Club T-Shirt and Other Fun

Postby Benny Lava » Tue Jan 20, 2009 9:28 pm

Hello everyone. I figured I'd revive the idea of a club T-shirt for 2009. The first nomination was playing with the old idea I had waaay back in 2007. Pictures in order are front of shirt, back of shirt and a slightly larger version of the main picture

Personally I'm not a fan of the letters down the side, although I still like the idea.

Another idea which was thrown around was along the lines of that conversation most of us have had:
"Ow, I huuurt."
"What happened?"
"Fencing."
"... you have a farm or something?"
"Urgh, no. The OTHER kind of fencing."

So I whipped these up in a couple of short hours. Completely copyright-issue free, elements can be combined as required:

I like the NO idea a lot.

But the drawing should prolly be slightly more comical. I've uploaded my idea drawn pretty shittily (I don't have a tablet :() The alien-looking thing is a dude in whites by the way.

I like this latest picture. Looks sillier with a guy trying to fence with a hammer.

Throw the suggestions for improvements and I'll try to implement them. But specific feedback is necessary since I like the design as is. ;)

well, I still quite like the "not a team sport" idea, to be honest ... although the last fencing draft is not too bad neither, I suppose ...so much for my pretty worthless opinion ...

No one else keen on the T-shirt at all? After all my hard work? :(

More input would be sweet, guys. Otherwise the board will arbitrarily choose and you gots to buy them T-shirties. Haha

It seems at the moment, 100% of AUF prefers the Not a Team Sport idea.

Let's vote, ladies!

100% of AUF is retarded.

I don't like the "not the team sport" one because I think it promotes the wrong message about fencing. While the hammer-fence one is a omglolz common misconception when somebody says they're a "fencer"

I just don't know!!!!

I suspect, pre-vote, that I am leaning towards 'No' as it is more intuitive (to me at least) than team sport. Granted, that may be a moot point.

The pic you posted Cardboard is interesting. Notice he has puncture holes (as if from a foil or epee), yet holds a sabre ... a slashing weapon.

Of course, you can score points in Sabre with the tip, and if I understand correctly in 'good' sabre this is more common than in the 'run and swipe' Sabre. I could however be talking out of my ass so take with a truck load of salt.

Good point, although putting the words 'good' and 'sabre' in the same sentence, let alone aligned with each other, is a worry.

Which 'no', Danielle?

They should be about $20-$40, but where in that range they end up will depend on how much it costs us to get them done. :)

OK the no as in the t-shirt idea where the fencer is holding the hammer. maybe we could charge a bit extra (not $5000... yesh....) and the extra $ goes towards new gear. kinda like a fundraiser. or we could have a bake sale :) or car washing

I quite like the hammer thingy.
However a price of $5000 might put some people off: I suggest $4999.95 so it doesn't feel too expensive.
